FAQs
Are the 200 steps a problem for elderly parents?
For anyone with knee issues or heart conditions, yes. The steps are steep and the descent-then-ascent is genuinely tough. Some yatris hire a doli (chair carried by porters) for elderly members — negotiate at the top before descending.
Can I see wildlife on the way?
The road passes through the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary — home to the endangered Giant Squirrel. Sightings need patience and quiet stops; drivers know the good spots but this isn't a safari.
Is it safe to visit in monsoon?
The scenery is spectacular but the ghat road can be slippery and landslide-prone. If you visit June-September, add extra time to the drive and start even earlier. Avoid on heavy rain days.
Is there any special darshan option?
A ₹100 special darshan skips the main queue on busy days. Regular darshan is free but can add 45-90 min on weekends and Mondays (Shiva's day).
