VERIFIED STAYS

How we verify lodges

Every lodge on TripSaffron is visited and photographed by our team before it goes live. Here's exactly what we check โ€” and what we won't list.

In-person visit before any listing

Unlike aggregator platforms that list properties based on owner self-reports, we visit every lodge in person before accepting it. A team member books an off-peak slot, inspects the property, and speaks to the owner.

If a lodge misrepresents something significant โ€” capacity, condition, or distance from the temple โ€” we don't list it.

What we check on the visit

Real walking distance to the temple
Measured by walking it at 4:30 AM (for Kakad Aarti) and again in the evening. We note if the path is flat, uphill, well-lit, or dodgy after dark.
Room capacity and layout match the claim
Owner-stated capacity is checked against actual bed count. We photograph every room type so listings show what you'll actually get โ€” not a staged Instagram shot.
Bathroom type per room
Indian vs Western toilet, attached vs shared, hot water availability and timing. Matters for elderly pilgrims.
Ground-floor rooms and lift access
Senior-friendly flags on the pilgrim card come from this check โ€” not owner self-report.
Food and meal quality
In-house kitchen vs nearby, strict veg vs onion-garlic-free, Jain options. We sample meals at peak meal times.
Distance to Prasad counter, bus stand, railway
Measured by the team so pilgrims see accurate rickshaw fare estimates and walk times.
Fire safety, power backup, water supply
Basic building-safety checks. Lodges without reliable power or water backup don't get listed.
Phone locker in the lobby
Shirdi temple bans phones inside. We verify the lodge has a free locker for guests.
Owner identity and UPI details
Aadhaar verification of the property owner, UPI confirmed live. No shell middlemen.

What we won't list

  • Lodges without clear ownership documentation or Aadhaar verification.
  • Properties that falsely claim distance to the temple (we've measured).
  • Anywhere that refuses elderly pilgrims, families with children, or multi-generational groups.
  • Lodges under active consumer complaints โ€” we monitor pilgrim feedback and cross-check with local sources.
  • Properties that demand advance payment or charge "mandatory tips" at check-in.

We recheck every 6 months

Verification isn't one-time. Every lodge is re-inspected at least every 6 months. The VERIFIED pill on a lodge card shows the date of the most recent verification. Anything older than 6 months loses the badge until the next visit.

Booking protection

The verification promise extends to your booking. If the lodge misrepresents a material fact (capacity, AC, accessibility) at check-in, we'll:

  • Move you to a comparable verified lodge at our cost, or
  • Refund 100% of whatever you've paid โ€” no fine print.

Call our 24/7 WhatsApp helpline and we handle it from your end. You don't have to argue with the owner at 11 PM with elderly parents waiting.

Report a lodge

If a verified lodge misrepresented something on your stay, tell us โ€” in WhatsApp, email, or the feedback form in your post-yatra dashboard. We act within 48 hours and either re-verify or delist.
