Yes, one day in Dwarka is enough for Dwarkadhish, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga and Bet Dwarka, provided you start at the 6:30 am mangla aarti and leave town by about 9 am.
The three sit on one road heading north: Nageshwar is roughly 17 km out, Okha about 36 km, and Bet Dwarka lies just across the 2.32 km Sudarshan Setu.
Below is the order that works, the temple timings that decide it, and what a day cab costs.
Dwarkadhish temple runs on Pushtimarg hours, not tourist hours. Mangla aarti is at 6:30 am, mangla darshan continues to about 8 am, and then the doors close for the abhishek and snan till around 9 am. Shringar aarti follows at roughly 10:30 am.
The temple then closes from about 1 pm to 5 pm and reopens for evening darshan till 9:30 pm. If you arrive at 11 am expecting a quick darshan before lunch, you will queue with everyone else who had the same idea. Reach the gate by 6 am and you are out before 8.
A few rules catch first-timers:
Mobiles and cameras are not allowed inside; lockers near Swarg Dwar and Moksha Dwar charge about ₹20–40.
Dress modestly — shorts and sleeveless tops get turned away at the gate. Leather belts and wallets are usually barred too.
Entry is through Swarg Dwar, exit through Moksha Dwar. The 56 steps below Swarg Dwar lead down to Gomti Ghat.
For the full aarti timetable, our Dwarkadhish darshan timings guide lists every slot through the day.
Everything you want to see lies along the coastal road north of Dwarka towards Okha. Drive out in the morning and work back, so you are in Dwarka again for the evening aarti and sunset. Doing it the other way round means hitting Bet Dwarka's midday closure.
| Leg | Distance | Drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Dwarkadhish → Rukmini Devi temple | a couple of km | 10 min |
| Rukmini temple → Nageshwar Jyotirlinga | about 15 km | 25–30 min |
| Nageshwar → Gopi Talav | 3–4 km | under 10 min |
| Gopi Talav → Okha (bridge approach) | about 15 km | 25 min |
| Okha → Bet Dwarka temple via Sudarshan Setu | 2.32 km bridge + island road | 10–15 min |
| Bet Dwarka → Dwarka | about 36 km + bridge | 1 hr |
A realistic timeline, assuming a 6 am start:
6:00–8:00 Dwarkadhish mangla aarti and darshan, a look at Gomti Ghat.
8:30–9:00 Breakfast, then Rukmini Devi temple on the way out of town.
9:30–10:30 Nageshwar Jyotirlinga darshan.
10:45–11:00 Gopi Talav, a short stop.
11:30–12:30 Cross the Sudarshan Setu, Bet Dwarka darshan before the 12:30 closure.
2:00–3:00 Back in Dwarka for lunch; rest through the temple's closed hours.
5:00 onwards Evening darshan, then sunset at Bhadkeshwar Mahadev.
Those planning the longer Gujarat loop will find the onward leg covered in our Dwarka–Somnath trip guide.
Nageshwar is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and the easiest of them to reach from a temple town: 17 km, about 25–30 minutes by cab or auto on the Okha road. The temple opens at 6 am and closes at 12:30 pm, then runs again from 5 pm to 9:30 pm.
Aarti times are mangla at 5:00–5:30 am, a midday aarti at 12:00–12:30 pm, sandhya at 7:00–7:30 pm and shayan at 9:00–9:30 pm. On an ordinary weekday the line is short and 45 minutes is plenty, including the walk around the large seated Shiva statue outside.
Timings shift during Shravan and on Maha Shivratri, when the queue runs long into the afternoon. If your one day falls on a Shravan Monday, reach Nageshwar before 9 am and push Bet Dwarka to after its 3 pm reopening instead.
Bet Dwarka is the island where Krishna is said to have lived, and its Dwarkadhish temple is the day's final darshan. Until 2024 the only way across was a boat from Okha jetty. The Sudarshan Setu, inaugurated on 25 February 2024, carries four lanes and a 2.5 m footpath each side, lined with Gita verses.
What to know about the crossing:
The bridge is toll-free and open round the clock; light and heavy vehicles and pedestrians all use it.
Parking on the island side is paid, and from the parking area autos run the short distance to the temple.
The government ferry still operates, roughly 6 am to 6 pm, ₹40–50 per person, 20–25 minutes each way. Good for the experience, slow for a one-day plan.
Temple hours are seasonal: 6 am–12:30 pm and 3 pm–8 pm in summer, 6:30 am–12:30 pm and 2:30 pm–7:30 pm in winter. An hour on the island covers the main temple; add another hour if you want to drive out to Hanuman Dandi or Dunny Point beach.
Local cab operators sell this loop as a fixed "Dwarka local sightseeing" day, typically 8 hours, covering Dwarkadhish, Rukmini temple, Nageshwar, Gopi Talav and Bet Dwarka. Figures below are 2026 quotes; confirm whether parking and the island auto are included.
| Vehicle | Day hire (approx.) | Per-km alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan (4 seats) | ₹2,450–2,800 | ₹10–12/km |
| SUV / Innova (6–7 seats) | ₹3,500–4,500 | ₹15/km |
| Tempo traveller (12–25 seats) | ₹6,000–7,500 | by quote |
| One-way drop, Dwarka → Nageshwar | about ₹1,200 | — |
| One-way drop, Dwarka → Bet Dwarka | about ₹1,400 | — |
Add roughly ₹100–200 for Dwarkadhish lockers and small offerings, ferry fare only if you choose the boat, and lunch in Dwarka. A family of four in a sedan spends around ₹3,500–4,000 for the whole day, temples included, since none of the three charges an entry fee.
Shared autos and the GSRTC bus do run to Okha, but the bus will not wait at Nageshwar and the last return is early. For one day, a dedicated cab is the only way to hold the timetable.
With elderly parents: Keep the 6 am Dwarkadhish start but skip Gopi Talav, and take the bridge rather than the ferry. Ask the driver to drop you at the Bet Dwarka parking nearest the temple.
On a budget: A sedan split four ways is about ₹650 a head. Carry water and snacks; prices on the island are higher than in Dwarka.
On a tight schedule (train the same evening): Dwarkadhish, Nageshwar and Bet Dwarka only, finishing by 1:30 pm. Leave Rukmini and the sunset for another visit.
With children: Add Dunny Point beach on Bet Dwarka and the sunset at Bhadkeshwar Mahadev, where the sun drops into the sea between 6:30 and 7 pm depending on season.
What to avoid: arriving at Dwarkadhish at midday, reaching Bet Dwarka after 12:30 pm, and betting on the ferry in rough monsoon seas when it may not sail.
Dwarka station (DWK) sits on the Okha line and the main trains suit a one-day plan. The Saurashtra Mail (22946) leaves Dwarka at 11:40 am and reaches Ahmedabad at 8:25 pm, so it suits an overnight stay rather than a same-day exit.
The Okha–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat (22926) departs Dwarka at 4:07 am and reaches Ahmedabad at 10:10 am, every day except Wednesday. For Somnath, the Okha–Somnath Express (19252) leaves Dwarka at 8:46 pm and arrives at 5:15 am — a neat way to finish this day and wake up at the next Jyotirlinga.
By air, Porbandar is the nearest airport at about 106 km by road (1 hr 20 min), with Jamnagar around 130 km and Rajkot roughly 215 km but with far more flights. Arriving from Ahmedabad by road? Our Dwarka, Somnath and Girnar circuit guide covers the drive in.
Stay within walking distance of the temple so a 6 am mangla aarti does not need a cab. The lanes around Swarg Dwar and Gomti Ghat hold most guest houses and dharamshalas, with mid-range hotels a kilometre back towards the station and the Okha road.
Book ahead for Janmashtami, Shravan weekends and Diwali, when rooms near the temple fill days before. On ordinary weekdays a same-day room is easy, and one night is all this plan needs.
Start at Swarg Dwar before dawn and the whole coast — Jyotirlinga, bridge and island — fits into one unhurried day. Jai Dwarkadhish!
