Planning a trip from Pune to Shirdi? The good news is it’s an easy journey — and there are several ways to do it. This guide helps you pick the right one by time, cost, and comfort.
The road distance from Pune to Shirdi is about 185–210 km (it varies a little by route). For Pune devotees, Shirdi works as a single-day trip, or comfortably with an overnight stay.
🚆
Train
CHEAPEST
A direct train runs from Pune Junction to Sainagar Shirdi (a few days a week). Travel time about 6 hours. Fares ₹200–1,600 by class. Sainagar station is just a few km from the temple. If the direct train’s dates don’t match, take a train to Manmad Junction and a bus/taxi onward — Manmad is about 85 km from Shirdi.
Most Pune devotees take an overnight bus, or leave by car early morning — so they reach Shirdi at dawn and finish darshan before the crowd builds. (Pune is also the transit point for long-distance yatris coming from further west — the Goa to Shirdi route both by train and bus passes through here.)
Pune to Shirdi in a single day?
Yes, it’s very doable. Leave Pune around 2–3 AM and you’ll reach Shirdi by about 8 AM — when the queue is shortest. Darshan, the free prasadalaya, and Dwarkamai are done comfortably, with time to head back by evening.
But if elderly parents are travelling with you, an overnight stay is better — less fatigue, and the yatra stays calm.
A small money-saver
On MSRTC buses, women and children get a 50% fare concession — worth checking when you book the family’s tickets.
