TripSaffron — Shirdi Sansthan Room Booking

Many pilgrims coming to Shirdi want to know: can we stay in the Sai Baba Sansthan’s own rooms? The answer is yes. Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust runs several bhaktaniwas buildings for devotees, at very reasonable rates — rooms start around ₹50 and go up to about ₹900 for an AC room.

But there are a few important things worth knowing before you book — how quickly rooms fill up, which bhaktaniwas is closest to the mandir, and the rules most websites don’t spell out. This guide covers the whole process, prices, and the fine print.

First — book only from the official portal

Sansthan rooms are booked only through the Trust’s official site: sai.org.in (Accommodation section) or online.sai.org.in. Do not pay any agent, unknown website, or anyone promising “guaranteed rooms”. The Trust has warned repeatedly against such middlemen.

The bhaktaniwas buildings — which, where, how much

Sai Ashram Bhaktaniwas

~1.5 km from the mandir. 1,536 rooms (~9,000 devotees capacity) — 1,152 non-AC with attached bathrooms + 384 AC. Rates: non-AC ~₹250, AC ~₹600. Devotee restaurant, open-air theatre (OAT) for kirtan-bhajans, and a paid darshan pass counter at reception (6 AM–9 PM). Festival days often add a “Shatabdi Pandal” temporary shelter for ~1,000 more devotees.

Dwaravati Bhaktaniwas

~0.6 km from the mandir — one of the closest large bhaktaniwases. Roughly 316–334 rooms, including ~80 AC rooms, dormitories, and larger family rooms (6–10 people). Rates: non-AC ~₹500, AC ~₹900; very basic rooms as low as ₹50 (up to 4 people). Parking, 24×7 water and power (generator backup), on-site security.

Saibaba Bhaktaniwas Sthan

~1.5 km from the mandir. Around 537 rooms. Rates: standard room ~₹200; larger room ~₹600; hall ~₹300–500.

Sainiwas Guest House

~0.1 km from the mandir — the closest option, walking to the temple gate. Only 24 rooms, so this one goes first. AC rate ~₹800.

(Rates are set by Sansthan and revised from time to time — confirm on the portal at booking time.)

Online booking — step by step

Open sai.org.in and go to “Online Services” or “Accommodation” (or directly to online.sai.org.in).
Sign up with a mobile number + email; log in with the OTP.
Pick “Accommodation”.
Enter check-in date, number of nights, rooms, and people (with male/female breakdown).
Click Search — available bhaktaniwas + room types will show (Sai Ashram, Dwaravati, Saibaba Bhaktaniwas Sthan, etc.).
Pick AC or non-AC, choose a room, proceed.
Pay by UPI, card, or net banking.
Download the confirmation PDF, print it, and keep a screenshot too — mobile network can be patchy right around the mandir.

When bookings open — and the real challenge

Bookings usually open 30 to 60 days before travel. And here’s the catch:

Thursday, weekend, purnima and festival slots sell out within hours of release.
Sai Ashram and the newer bhaktaniwases fill fastest; Dwaravati sometimes has mid-week space.
Be logged in and ready on the portal the moment the slot opens.

The rules most websites don’t mention

These are Sansthan’s own rules — worth knowing before you pay:

Aadhaar mandatory: online bookers must carry a physical Aadhaar photocopy.
No refund: once paid, the money is not returned for any reason — even if you check out early. No free cancellation.
Alcohol, smoking and tobacco/gutkha are completely banned — in the rooms and the campus.
Male + female friends are not given a shared room. Brother-sister only with relationship proof.
Hot water runs from 3 AM (as long as supply lasts) — helpful for the Kakad Aarti crowd.
Carry some cash at check-in for the security deposit.

Spot booking — can I just show up?

Sometimes, depending on availability. But even on a normal weekday it is a gamble, and on Thursdays / festivals it is close to impossible. Arriving without a confirmed room — especially with family or elderly parents — is risky.

Sansthan rooms vs private hotels — an honest comparison

Sansthan rooms make sense when:

Your budget is tight (₹250–900 range).
You planned 45+ days ahead.
Simple facilities are fine and the rules work for you.
You’re travelling solo or in a group and don’t mind the walk/auto to and from the mandir.

Where the friction is real:

Rooms sell out fast — especially Thursday, weekend and festival dates.
No refund — plans changing means the whole payment is lost.
Sai Ashram and Saibaba Bhaktaniwas Sthan are ~1.5 km from the mandir — the back-and-forth wears elderly relatives out.
The 4:30 AM Kakad Aarti is hard from that distance. See how darshan queues work for why proximity matters.
Check-in queues can build up.

If the Sansthan rooms are full — what then?

This is the most common situation: dates are fixed, portal shows “full” everywhere. In that case, verified private hotels near the mandir are the most reliable fallback. Our Shirdi budget hotels guide covers the value picks; if you’re travelling with elderly parents, this guide pairs stay + darshan.

On TripSaffron you get verified Shirdi hotels — real photos, real distance from the mandir, no hidden charges. And the two things bhaktaniwases don’t give you:

Walking-distance rooms (within 500 m) — easy even for the Kakad Aarti.
Free cancellation — if plans change, no penalty (Sansthan has zero refund).
Marathi and Hindi phone support — so elderly relatives can book comfortably.

Suggested play: try the Sansthan portal first — if you get a room, great. If not, book a hotel near the mandir straight away. Don’t leave for Shirdi without a room.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Where do I book a Shirdi Sansthan room?

Only from the official Sansthan portals — sai.org.in (Accommodation) or online.sai.org.in. Skip agents; the Trust warns explicitly against middlemen.

What does a Sansthan bhaktaniwas room cost?

Roughly ₹50 (basic 4-person room) to ₹900 (AC) depending on the bhaktaniwas and room type. Confirm current pricing on the portal at booking time.

Which bhaktaniwas is closest to the mandir?

Sainiwas Guest House (~0.1 km, but only 24 rooms so it fills first) and Dwaravati Bhaktaniwas (~0.6 km, ~316–334 rooms).

How far in advance do bookings open?

Typically 30–60 days ahead. Thursday, weekend and festival dates sell out within hours of the slot opening — be ready on the portal at release time.

Can I cancel and get a refund?

No. Once paid, Sansthan does not refund for any reason — even if you check out early. Plan carefully before booking.

Is Aadhaar required?

Yes. Online bookings must carry a physical Aadhaar photocopy at check-in.

Can I get a room on the spot without booking?

Sometimes, depending on availability — but never count on it for Thursdays, weekends or festivals. Turning up without a booking with elderly parents is risky.

Sansthan bhaktaniwases are the most economical and devotion-first way to stay in Shirdi — provided you book early enough and the rules work for you. Two things to remember: book only from sai.org.in, and if a room isn’t available, lock a verified hotel near the mandir before you leave home. Leave the rest to Baba. Shubh yatra. 🚩
