Akkalkot and Tuljapur sit on opposite sides of Solapur, roughly 38 km and 45 km away by road. Covering both temples in a single day is genuinely possible, but only with an early start and the right day of the week.
This guide gives the real distances, the queue swings, and an hour-by-hour plan that gets you back to Solapur well before evening.
Akkalkot and Tuljapur are not next to each other. Akkalkot sits south of Solapur, Tuljapur sits north-west, and the direct road between the two temples is longer than either leg from Solapur itself.
| Leg | Distance | Drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Solapur → Akkalkot | ~38 km | 45–60 min |
| Akkalkot → Tuljapur | ~54 km | 60–90 min |
| Tuljapur → Solapur | ~45 km | 60–75 min |
| Full loop | ~137 km | ~3 hrs driving |
That three-hour figure is pure driving time, with no stops. Add darshan queues, a lunch break, and Solapur's own town traffic, and a comfortable day runs closer to 10–12 hours door to door.
Akkalkot's general darshan runs roughly 6 am–12 pm and 4 pm–9 pm, with Kakad Aarti near 5 am and Shej Aarti closing the day around 8–8.45 pm. There is no darshan in the four-hour midday gap.
Tuljapur runs differently. The temple stays open through most of the day, with Dhup Aarti around noon, an evening abhishekam near 7 pm, and Shejarti closing the sanctum near 10 pm.
Because Tuljapur tolerates an afternoon arrival and Akkalkot does not, the loop only works one way: Akkalkot in the morning, Tuljapur after. Our Akkalkot darshan-timings guide has the full daily schedule if you want to double-check aarti times before you leave.
Distance is predictable. Queue time is not, and it is the thing most day-trip plans get wrong.
| Day type | Tuljapur queue (no pass) | With paid darshan pass |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday (Mon/Wed/Thu/Sat) | 1–2 hrs | 30–45 min |
| Tuesday, Friday, Sunday | 5–7 hrs | 30–60 min |
A five-to-seven-hour queue on its own can consume the whole window you had for Akkalkot too. If your visit falls on a Tuesday, Friday or Sunday, book Tuljapur's paid darshan pass on the official Sansthan site rather than trying the free line. Our Tuljapur darshan-timings guide walks through the pass booking steps in detail.
Akkalkot's queue is gentler by comparison. Reaching by 5.30–6 am puts you near the front, and weekday mornings generally move quickly even without a pass.
Two calendar traps sink this plan more often than distance does.
Sharad Navratri 2026 runs October 11–20. Tuljapur's crowds swell for the full nine days, and the one-day loop is not realistic that week — see our Tuljapur Navratri 2026 guide for dates and darshan changes.
Tuesday, Friday and Sunday are Tuljapur's heaviest ordinary days. Attempt the loop on these only with a pre-booked paid darshan pass.
Outside these windows, an ordinary weekday keeps both queues short enough to finish comfortably in a day.
This is the timeline that actually gets both darshans done and puts you back in Solapur before dinner.
5.30–6 am — Leave Solapur for Akkalkot (~38 km).
6.15–6.30 am — Arrive Akkalkot, join the morning queue.
6.30–8.30 am — Darshan and time inside the mandir premises.
8.30 am — Depart for Tuljapur (~54 km, 60–90 min).
9.45–10 am — Arrive Tuljapur, darshan queue (or pass line).
10 am–12.30 pm — Darshan, Dhup Aarti around noon, quick lunch nearby.
1–2.30 pm — Time at the temple town, markets, or a short rest.
3 pm — Depart Tuljapur for Solapur (~45 km, 60–75 min).
4.15–5 pm — Back in Solapur with the evening free.
The right choice depends on who is travelling, not just the map.
Travelling with elders: split the loop across two mornings — Akkalkot one day, Tuljapur the next — rather than chaining both drives back to back.
On a tight schedule: book a private taxi and leave by 5.30 am sharp; shared buses have gaps between towns that can add two-plus hours.
On a budget: MSRTC buses connect all three towns, but you lose the flexibility to skip Akkalkot's midday closure cleanly.
Visiting on Tuesday, Friday or Sunday: do not attempt the same-day plan without Tuljapur's paid pass booked in advance.
Staying in Solapur the night before an early start beats driving in from further away at 4 am. Central Solapur puts you within the 38–45 km range of both temples and close to the highway junctions for each route.
If you would rather compare specific areas and hotel types, our guide to where to stay in Solapur before Akkalkot or Tuljapur breaks down neighbourhoods by which temple you are prioritising first.
Plan the order around Akkalkot's midday gap, pick a weekday where you can, and both darshans fit into one long but comfortable day. Jai Bhavani, Shri Swami Samarth.
