Tirumala holds its Navaratri Brahmotsavam from 12 to 20 October 2026, the second Brahmotsavam of the year because 2026 carries an Adhika Masa. Garuda Seva, the night the whole hill turns out, is on Friday, 16 October, and for those nine days TTD runs only sarva darshan, with arjita sevas and privileged darshans cancelled.
Here is the day-by-day vahana schedule, what darshan actually looks like that week, and which days to pick or avoid.
The annual Salakatla Brahmotsavam ran from 15 to 23 September 2026. In a year with an Adhika Masa in the Ashwayuja month, TTD holds a second one during Navaratri, and that falls on 12 to 20 October 2026, with Ankurarpanam on the evening of 11 October.
The Navaratri Brahmotsavam skips three things the annual one has: no Dhwajarohanam on day one, no Pedda Radham on day eight, and no Dhwajavarohanam at the close. Everything else, the vahanams, Garuda Seva and the Chakrasnanam, happens as usual, with the Swarna Ratham standing in for the big chariot.
Morning vahanams run 8 to 10 am and evening ones 7 to 9 pm, except Garuda Seva, which runs 6:30 to 11:30 pm. All processions circle the four Mada streets around the temple.
| Date | Morning | Evening |
|---|---|---|
| Mon 12 Oct | Bangaru Tiruchi, 9 am | Pedda Sesha Vahanam |
| Tue 13 Oct | Chinna Sesha Vahanam | Hamsa Vahanam |
| Wed 14 Oct | Simha Vahanam | Muthyapu Pandiri Vahanam |
| Thu 15 Oct | Kalpavriksha Vahanam | Sarvabhoopala Vahanam |
| Fri 16 Oct | Mohini Avataram | Garuda Vahanam, 6:30 to 11:30 pm |
| Sat 17 Oct | Hanumantha Vahanam | Gaja Vahanam, with Pushpaka Vimanam |
| Sun 18 Oct | Suryaprabha Vahanam | Chandraprabha Vahanam |
| Mon 19 Oct | Swarna Ratham |
TTD prints a booklet with the exact timings a week or two ahead. Confirm the Garuda Seva and Chakrasnanam slots against it, because those are the two the hill reorganises itself around.
TTD clears the calendar for the common Yatri during Brahmotsavam, which cuts both ways.
Cancelled: arjita sevas including Astadala Padmaradhana, Unjal Seva, Tiruppavada, Kalyanotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara. Privileged darshans for senior citizens, the differently-abled, parents with infants, NRIs and donors are suspended, and VIP break darshan runs only for protocol visitors.
What remains: sarva darshan, the free queue, through the compartments. Expect waits of several hours on vahanam days and longer around Garuda Seva.
₹300 Special Entry Darshan: October tickets were released on 24 July. TTD usually trims or suspends SED on Garuda Seva day itself, so do not plan your only darshan for 16 October. Our SED guide covers the booking cycle.
For the normal daily timings this schedule replaces, see Tirupati darshan timings.
Garuda Seva draws the largest crowd of either Brahmotsavam, routinely in the lakhs. TTD and the police manage it with a few fixed rules.
Two-wheelers are stopped on the ghat road from the evening of Garuda Seva, and private cars face restrictions from that night into the next morning.
APSRTC buses keep running from Tirupati, and are the sensible way up that day.
Reach the hill by early afternoon, find a place on the Mada streets, and stay put. People leave after midnight.
Rooms on the hill for 15 to 17 October go on the TTD portal and vanish quickly; most Yatris sleep in Tirupati town.
The Tirumala access guide explains the ghat roads and the Alipiri end on an ordinary day.
If the Tirumala queue is beyond you that week, the two temples below the hill are open as usual and far calmer.
Padmavathi temple, Tiruchanur: about 5 km from Tirupati town, open roughly 4:50 am to 9:30 pm, and from 3:30 am on Fridays. Tradition says a Tirumala visit is complete only after Padmavathi darshan.
Srikalahasti: about 36 km from Tirupati, open 6 am to 9 pm, with Rahu-Ketu pooja slots through the day.
Both fit into the morning of a vahanam day, leaving you free to be on the hill by evening.
Here for Garuda Seva: arrive 15 October, see Kalpavriksha and Sarvabhoopala in the evening, stay through the 16th, leave the 17th morning. Give up on sanctum darshan that day.
Here for darshan, with elders: avoid 12 to 20 October altogether, or come on 13 or 14 October and take the morning sarva darshan before the evening vahanam crowd arrives.
On a tight schedule: the Chakrasnanam morning of 20 October is quieter than it sounds, and the hill empties by afternoon.
Avoid: arriving on 16 October expecting SED or any privileged darshan. There is none.
TTD cottages and guesthouses on the hill for Brahmotsavam week open on the TTD portal well ahead and are gone the same day. Tirupati town, 20 km below, has the rooms, and the APSRTC bus up runs every few minutes from early morning.
Book a Tirupati room for the nights of 15 and 16 October as early as you can, because the town fills as fast as the hill that week. Keep the room through the 17th if you plan to stay for Garuda Seva, since nobody comes down the ghat before 1 am.
Pick the vahanam you came for, or pick a quiet weekday, but do not expect both in the same visit. Govinda, Govinda.
