For an early Tirumala darshan the best bed is a TTD room on the hill, booked the minute the monthly quota opens online. If you miss it, a Srinivasam or Vishnu Nivasam room in Tirupati town still works, because the ghat road opens around 3 AM and the first APSRTC bus leaves about the same time.
Here is what each complex costs and how the 60-day rule really runs.
TTD does not run a rolling 60-day window the way a railway booking does. It opens one whole month of rooms at a time on ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in, usually on the 24th at 3 PM, two to three months before the stay.
The 2026 pattern so far:
May 2026 rooms opened on 24 February
August 2026 rooms opened on 25 May
October 2026 rooms opened on 24 July at 3 PM
Rooms for popular dates sell out within 5–15 minutes. Log in 10–15 minutes early with your TTD account, each guest's ID number and payment ready.
Tirumala has only about 7,800 TTD rooms for a daily crowd of 60,000–80,000 Yatris. Roughly 50% of the ₹100 rooms are held for walk-in allotment at the Central Reception Office (CRO) near the Tirumala bus stand; the rest go online.
| Complex / area on the hill | Tariff per 24 h | Caution deposit | How to book |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sri Padmavathi Guest House area (Alwar Tank, Garudadri Nagar, Hill View cottages) | ₹50–₹200 | Equal to rent | Online or CRO |
| Varahaswami Guest House | ₹100 | ₹100 | Online or CRO |
| Nandakam, Valley View, TB cottages | ₹100–₹200 | Equal to rent | Online or CRO |
| PAC I, II and III (amenities complexes) | Free dormitory | None | Walk in on arrival |
The CRO works 6 AM to 10 PM, and walk-in rooms are usually gone within one to two hours of opening. Free dormitory beds are first-come at the same counter. Each PAC holds about 2,500 Yatris with 1,000 free lockers, bathrooms and a tonsure hall.
Town complexes are far easier to get, and both landmarks sit on the APSRTC hill route.
| Complex | Location | Tariff per 24 h | Booking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Srinivasam | Opposite Central Bus Stand | Non-AC ₹200, AC ₹400, AC deluxe ₹600 | Online only |
| Vishnu Nivasam | Opposite Tirupati railway station | Non-AC ₹300–₹500, AC ₹800, AC suite ₹1,340 | 50% online, 50% walk-in |
| Madhavam | Next to Srinivasam | AC suite ₹800, AC deluxe ₹1,000 | Online only |
Vishnu Nivasam is a five-minute walk from the bus stand and faces the station, so a night-train arrival is in bed within ten minutes.
A TTD room is yours for 24 hours from allotment, not until noon. When booking online you pick a check-in half, 00:00–12:00 or 12:01–23:59, and the clock starts when you collect the key.
Overstay: rent rises to 200% after 48 hours and 400% after 72.
Caution deposit equals one day's rent; UPI refunds land within about an hour of vacating, cards take 3–7 working days.
Cancel before midnight of the day before check-in and both tariff and deposit are refunded.
Minimum two people, maximum six; the booker shows original photo ID at the counter.
A room booking is not a darshan slot. Book the ₹300 Special Entry Darshan separately, as our SED ticket guide explains, and choose the room's check-in half to suit that slot.
The up ghat road from Alipiri opens for cars at around 3 AM and closes near midnight; two-wheelers start about 6 AM. Some sources quote 4 AM, so leave by 3:30. The toll gate records your entry time and expects at least one hour for the 22 km climb.
APSRTC's first hill bus from Tirupati runs at about 3 AM, then every few minutes at peak; adult fare around ₹90, child ₹50.
A free APSRTC shuttle links the railway station and Alipiri every 30 minutes.
Private buses stop at Alipiri parking; cars and taxis go up.
Allow 60–75 minutes door to door, plus the cloakroom and security queue.
Routes into town are in How to Reach Tirumala.
Because 2026 carries an Adhika Masam, Tirumala holds two Brahmotsavams; the Navaratri one runs 12–20 October, with Garuda Seva on 16 October and Chakrasnanam on the 20th. All arjitha sevas are cancelled on those nine days.
TTD has announced no suspension of accommodation, but festival-week hill rooms went in the first minutes of the 24 July release. Plan on a Tirupati room, fix the ghat drive early, and avoid 16 October unless you come for the Garuda Seva itself. Our Brahmotsavam darshan plan lists the vahanam timings.
With elders or small children: a Tirumala room, even a ₹50 cottage; the hill is cool and the temple a short walk or free bus away. Missed the quota? Vishnu Nivasam AC plus a 3 AM taxi.
On a budget: Srinivasam non-AC at ₹200, or a free PAC dormitory bed on the hill; carry a bedsheet.
On a tight schedule: Tirupati town room, 6–7 AM SED slot, taxi up at 3:15, back by noon.
Avoid: overstaying the 24-hour clock, reaching the CRO after 8 AM expecting a room, and any site other than TTD's portal selling "confirmed" rooms.
If the hill quota is gone, stay within walking range of the Central Bus Stand or the railway station. Both have hill buses from around 3 AM and early taxi pick-ups. Rooms near Alipiri save ten minutes but sit further from late-night food.
Book the room the day the quota opens and the early darshan falls into place. Govinda Govinda!
