Nearest Airport to Pandharpur — Solapur, Not Pune (2026)

The nearest airport to Pandharpur is Solapur (SSE), 78 km away — about 1 hour 45 minutes by road. Almost every other guide will tell you it is Pune, and until recently they were right. Solapur is flying again, and that changes the answer for anyone coming from Mumbai, Goa or Hyderabad.

✈️ Why the usual answer is out of date

Solapur airport sat without scheduled flights for years, which is why "the nearest airport to Pandharpur is Pune" is repeated almost everywhere. It is no longer true.

Fly91 connects Solapur with Goa, Hyderabad and Mumbai, having added the Hyderabad route in April 2026. Star Air resumed Solapur–Mumbai on 1 August 2026. The airport handled 26,375 passengers across 2025-26 — small, but genuinely operating.

The catch is the size of that list. Four cities is not a network, so whether Solapur helps you depends entirely on where you are starting.

The road runs Solapur → Mohol → Pandharpur, about 78 km on decent state highway, and 1 hr 45 is an honest figure rather than an optimistic one.

Solapur's arrivals hall is small and there is no organised prepaid taxi counter of the kind you would find at Pune. Taxis exist but are not reliably waiting, particularly for the last arrival of the day. If you are landing in the evening, or travelling with elders, book the car before you fly.

Plan backwards from darshan. If you want the Kakada Aarti you are staying in Pandharpur the night before — no flight lands early enough.

Pune is the airport for everyone outside those four cities, and it is a genuinely different journey: 211 km, four hours, via Solapur road through Indapur and Akluj.

For most yatris the train is better than either airport. Pandharpur has its own railway station, and during Ashadhi and Kartiki the railways run special services directly to it — no road leg at all.
