On day 2 of a Dwarka yatra from Rajkot, the remaining temples sit north of town on the Okha road: Bet Dwarka, Gopi Talav, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga and Rukmini Devi. Leave by 7:30 am, take them in that order, and you finish before the midday closures, back in Dwarka by about 1 pm.
Rajkot to Dwarka is about 225 km, 4.5 to 5 hours via Jamnagar and Khambhalia, so most yatris arrive on day 1 and keep day 2 for the temples outside town.
Every one of them closes for the afternoon, so go to the farthest first and work back. The full route is in our Rajkot to Dwarka distance and route guide.
7:30 am — leave Dwarka for Okha, about 31 km.
8:30 am — cross Sudarshan Setu, darshan at Bet Dwarka.
11:00 am — Gopi Talav on the way back, then Nageshwar, about 22 km from Bet Dwarka.
12:15 pm — Rukmini Devi temple, about 2 km before Jagat Mandir.
1:00 pm — lunch and rest in Dwarka; Jagat Mandir reopens around 5 pm.
| Stop | Distance from previous | Time to give it | Morning darshan (as listed) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bet Dwarka | ~31 km from Dwarka + 2.32 km bridge | 1.5–2 hrs (4 hrs for all island shrines) | from early morning to about 12:30–1 pm |
| Gopi Talav | ~17 km from Okha side | 20–30 min | open through the morning |
| Nageshwar Jyotirlinga | ~5 km from Gopi Talav | 45 min–1 hr | 6 am to about 12:30 pm |
| Rukmini Devi | ~15 km, 2 km short of Dwarka | 30 min | listed 7:30 am to 8 pm |
This is the same order our 4-day Dwarka–Somnath yatra plan from Rajkot uses for day 2.
Until 2024 the only way across was a ferry from Okha jetty, a 15–20 minute ride that ran by daylight and could be cancelled in rough monsoon seas.
Sudarshan Setu changed that. It is a 2.32 km, four-lane cable-stayed bridge, inaugurated on 25 February 2024, with a footpath on each side.
With a taxi you simply drive across. After the bridge you leave the car in a paid parking area on the island and walk or take a shared auto to the temple.
Bet Dwarka is believed to be Krishna's family home. The main temple shares its complex with shrines to Hanuman, Lakshmi Narayan and Jambavati; Hanuman Dandi and other island shrines add about two hours.
Ignore touts selling "VIP darshan" on the island; the general queue moves.
Nageshwar is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, about 17 km from Dwarkadhish temple on the Okha road. A tall seated Shiva statue, about 25 metres high, stands in the garden and is visible from the road.
Timings most guides list:
Darshan: 6:00 am to 12:30 pm, then 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
Aarti: about 6 am, 12 noon, 7 pm (Sandhya) and 9 pm.
Maha Shivratri: open from about 5 am to 9:30 pm.
The swayambhu linga sits in a sunken sanctum reached by steps from the main hall. General darshan is free and queue-based. Yatris have reported a ₹200 fee for pooja and jal abhishek inside the sanctum.
For abhishek, men are asked to remove their shirt and wear a dhoti, and women a saree or similar modest dress. Carry a dhoti if you plan to do it. Photography is not allowed in the sanctum; phones are fine on the grounds.
Gopi Talav is a small sacred pond about 5 km from Nageshwar, on the same road. Tradition says the gopis of Vrindavan came here to meet Krishna and merged into this soil. The yellow clay from the pond is sold as gopi chandan, used for the tilak on the forehead. Give it 20–30 minutes.
The Rukmini Devi temple stands alone about 2 km outside Dwarka. The legend says sage Durvasa cursed Rukmini to live apart from Krishna after she drank water before offering it to him. That is why her shrine is not beside Jagat Mandir.
Water is the prasad here, and many yatris donate for drinking water to be offered in Rukmini's name.
Gujarat Tourism lists Rukmini temple hours as 7:30 am to 8 pm. Some guides mention a short midday break, so reaching by 12:15 pm is the safe plan.
The next sixty days bring big crowds to all four temples:
Sharad Purnima, 25–26 October 2026 — panchangs differ by a day. Gopi Talav sees devotees on this full moon, the night of the Raas.
Diwali, 8 November 2026 — Dwarka fills for the whole Diwali week; book rooms early.
Dev Uthani Ekadashi, 20–21 November 2026 — a major day at Krishna temples, with Tulsi Vivah after it.
Kartik Purnima, 24 November 2026 — the big fair is at Somnath; plan your Somnath night around it.
November to February is the best season, with days around 20–28°C. October afternoons are still hot on the open road between the temples, which is another reason to finish by 1 pm.
With elders: keep the order but skip Hanuman Dandi and the extra island shrines. Use the auto from Bet Dwarka parking to the temple. Our guide on the Dwarka–Somnath trip with elderly parents covers steps and queues.
Doing abhishek at Nageshwar: go there first at 6–7 am, when the queue is shortest, and do Bet Dwarka after. Carry a dhoti.
Tight schedule, Somnath next: do day 2 as above, then leave for Somnath (about 235 km via Porbandar) the next morning after Mangla aarti.
Avoid starting after 9:30 am. You will reach Nageshwar after it closes at 12:30 pm and lose the afternoon waiting.
Stay two nights in Dwarka, not Rajkot or Okha. Day 2 then starts and ends in the same room, and you can rest through the 1–5 pm closure. Pick a place within walking distance of Jagat Mandir so the 6:30 am Mangla aarti on day 3 does not need the car.
Our Rajkot–Dwarka–Somnath package keeps two nights in Dwarka and one in Somnath for this reason.
Start early, follow the road outward and work back, and day 2 gives you darshan of Krishna's island home, a Jyotirlinga and Rukmini Devi before lunch. Jai Dwarkadhish, Har Har Mahadev.
