Flight
FASTEST
No non-stop flight from Ahmedabad to Shirdi. Three workable paths: (1) AMD → BOM flight (~1.5h) + Mumbai to Shirdi by train/car (5–7h) → 8–10h total. (2) AMD → PNQ flight (~1.5h) + Pune to Shirdi by car/bus (5–6h) → 7–8h total. (3) AMD → BOM/PNQ + onward connecting flight to Shirdi airport (SAG, ~50 min) → 4–5h total with the connection. Pick flight only if time is the priority — the connection hassle and the higher fares both add up.
🚆
Train
CHEAPEST
The budget option — but it’s long. No direct train to Sainagar Shirdi; trains run to Kopargaon, which is only 15–18 km from Shirdi. Travel time 14–15 hours; fares ₹400 sleeper to ₹1,600 AC. After Kopargaon, shared auto / taxi to Shirdi costs about ₹100 per person. Take the overnight train — you sleep through the journey and reach Kopargaon at dawn, then onward to darshan.
🚗
Own car
FLEXIBLE
About 10–11 hours of straight driving via Vadodara, Surat, Nashik. One-way taxi roughly ₹9,000–10,500. It’s a long haul — two drivers are better than one, and a halt at Surat or Nashik makes the trip easier on the family.
Which route is right for you?
Tight budget, OK with an overnight ride — Volvo sleeper bus (the popular pick).
Time matters, budget OK — flight via Mumbai or Pune.
Cheapest overall — train via Kopargaon.
Family group, want to stop along the way — own car.
Because the distance is significant, most Gujarati yatris end up choosing the overnight Volvo bus — it’s the most practical option for the majority of families.
Ahmedabad to Shirdi in one day?
Difficult, but not impossible. By flight (via Mumbai or Pune), if you leave Ahmedabad early morning you can finish darshan and head back the same night. But for most yatris, at least one night in Shirdi makes the trip far more comfortable — no exhaustion, and darshan happens in peace, not in a rush.
After you reach — where to stay
After a long journey from Ahmedabad, staying within walking distance of the temple matters even more — so you can rest immediately and reach darshan easily in the morning. When choosing a stay, check:
The real walking distance to the temple (in metres, not just “near temple”).
Whether free cancellation is available.
A lift or ground-floor rooms, if elders are along.
Real interior photos, not stock images.
A small booking tip
Bus tickets on this route get tight around Guru Purnima, Ram Navami, and the festival weekends — book at least 2–3 weeks ahead. Flight fares drop the further out you book; train Tatkal is thin on the AMD–Kopargaon corridor.
