Lakhs of devotees from Madhya Pradesh travel to Shirdi every year, and Indore is the biggest starting point. Indore to Shirdi is about 400 km by road — and the good news is that Shirdi now has its own airport, so a direct flight from Indore is the fastest way there. Full comparison of every option below so you can pick the right one for your family.
What about the train?
Indore to Shirdi is awkward by rail. No convenient direct train to Sainagar Shirdi — most routes go via Ujjain and take 16+ hours. If you prefer rail, take a train to Manmad (MMR) or Nashik (NK) instead and pick up a cab or shared taxi onward to Shirdi.
Which mode for whom?
- Short on time or travelling with elderly parents — direct flight. (For a planning checklist built around senior Yatris: Shirdi with elderly parents.)
- Budget yatra — overnight sleeper bus.
- Your own car, want to enjoy the road — road, with a couple of stops planned.
Can you do Indore to Shirdi in one day?
Technically yes — by flight, you can fly in, get darshan, and fly out. But it’s rushed. Better to stay at least one night in Shirdi so darshan and aarti both happen at an easy pace.
After you reach — where to stay
Try to stay within walking distance of the temple — after a journey, you don’t want repeated vehicle trips for every aarti and meal. TripSaffron has verified hotels in Shirdi — real photos, real distance, no hidden charges. Hindi and Marathi welcome on the phone. (Once a stay is locked in, the next step is darshan itself — and the are the two companion reads.)
