Nashik has its own airport, a busy railway junction, and two solid road corridors from Mumbai and Pune. Most Yatris simply pick what suits their budget.
IndiGo flies in from Delhi in under two hours, the train from Mumbai takes four to five hours, and a taxi on the Samruddhi Mahamarg does it in under three.
Nashik's own airport sits at Ozar, about 20 km north of the city, and carries the IATA code ISK. IndiGo is currently the only airline running scheduled passenger flights here, with direct connections to Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Goa and Hyderabad.
The longest nonstop route is to Delhi, a flight of about 1 hour 55 minutes. Passenger numbers are climbing fast — the airport handled roughly 4.2 lakh flyers in the year to March 2026, up nearly a quarter on the year before.
From the terminal, a prepaid taxi or app cab into central Nashik takes 40–45 minutes depending on traffic. Budget travellers can use the NMPML Citilinc city bus instead, though services are infrequent outside peak hours.
Nashik does not have its own railway station — the city is served by Nashik Road (station code NK), about 8–10 km southeast of Panchavati on the Mumbai–Bhusawal main line.
Mumbai is the best-connected city: around 27 trains run between Mumbai and Nashik Road every day, including the daily Panchavati Express, which leaves Mumbai CSMT in the evening and covers the route via Kalyan and the Igatpuri ghat in about four and a half hours.
Delhi connections are thinner — only a handful of weekly direct trains link Hazrat Nizamuddin to Nashik Road, none of them daily, so check the day before you book.
Pune has no direct train to Nashik Road at all. You would need to change at Kalyan or Daund, which usually takes longer than simply driving.
From Mumbai, the fastest way in is the Samruddhi Mahamarg (Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway) feeding onto the Nashik link road. It's a run of about 150 km that takes roughly 2.5–3 hours in normal traffic.
The older NH160 route via Thane, Kasara Ghat and Igatpuri is about 165–180 km and takes 3.5–4.5 hours, longer if the ghat section is congested.
From Pune, NH60 is the only realistic road option: about 210–212 km through Sangamner and Narayangaon, taking 4.5–5.5 hours by car. Avoid the Kasara Ghat stretch after dark or in heavy monsoon rain — fog and slow trucks add real time.
MSRTC runs Shivneri and ordinary buses between Mumbai and Nashik almost every 10–20 minutes through the day, with fares starting around ₹200 and going up to ₹700–1,200 for AC Shivneri seats.
| Route | Distance | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| Mumbai → Nashik (Samruddhi Mahamarg) | ~150 km | 2.5–3 hrs |
| Mumbai → Nashik (old NH160, Kasara Ghat) | ~165–180 km | 3.5–4.5 hrs |
| Mumbai → Nashik Road (Panchavati Express) | ~187 km | ~4.5 hrs |
| Pune → Nashik (NH60, road) | ~210–212 km | 4.5–5.5 hrs |
| Pune → Nashik Road (train, with change) | ~270 km | 6+ hrs with transfer |
| Delhi → Nashik (IndiGo flight) | ~1,360 km | 1 hr 55 min |
Flying with elders or short on time — take the IndiGo flight if your city is on the list, then a private taxi from Ozar; it means no ghat-road driving.
On a tight budget — the Shivneri or ordinary MSRTC bus from Mumbai beats the train on frequency, at roughly the same travel time.
Coming from Pune — drive or hire a taxi; the train involves a change and rarely saves time.
Arriving from Delhi or the south — fly if your city has a direct IndiGo route, since the nearest useful train service runs only a few days a week.
Nashik Road, Deolali, Odha, Kherwadi and Kasbe Sukene stations are getting a ₹1,200 crore Central Railway upgrade ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2027. Nashik Road itself currently has four platforms; the works add new foot overbridges, extended platform sheds, extra loop lines and better water and sanitation facilities.
For now this means construction activity around the station forecourt on and off — budget a few extra minutes for the walk to the taxi stand. Once complete, expect faster boarding and shorter queues, especially useful if you are timing a trip around a festival date.
If you are continuing onward from the station, see our Nashik Road railway station to Shirdi and Trimbakeshwar guide for the taxi and bus options from the same platform.

Most Yatris base themselves in Panchavati, walking distance from Ramkund and the Kalaram Mandir, or near the city centre/CBS for easier access to both the airport road and Nashik Road station. Highway-side hotels near Mumbai Naka suit anyone arriving late by road or bus.
Rooms fill up fast around Shravan Mondays, Navratri and any Kumbh-related dates, so book at least a week ahead in season. For a full area-by-area breakdown, see our guide on where to stay in Nashik.
If you are unsure how many days to spend, our 1, 3 or 7-day Nashik itinerary maps out which temples fit which trip length.
However you arrive, Nashik rewards travellers who fix the onward transfer in advance — book your taxi before you land or board, not after. Jai Shri Ram.
