Yes, Saptashrungi Gad and Panchavati fit comfortably into one day from Nashik. Leave by 6:00 am, finish darshan on the Gad before noon, reach Panchavati by mid-afternoon and end at Ramkund around sunset. The full loop is about 135 km, and you are back at your door by roughly 7:30 pm.
This is the timetable that works on an ordinary weekday. On a Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday or Friday, add about an hour on the Gad and move everything after it accordingly.
| Time | Where you are | How long |
|---|---|---|
| 6:00 am | Leave Nashik | — |
| 7:45–8:00 am | Reach Saptashrungi Gad, park | 15 min |
| 8:15–10:45 am | Trolley or steps, darshan, way down | 2–2.5 hrs |
| 11:00 am–12:15 pm | Lunch on the Gad or at Vani | 45 min–1 hr |
| 12:15–2:30 pm | Drive back to Panchavati | about 2 hrs |
| 2:45–4:45 pm | Kapaleshwar and Kalaram Mandir | 2 hrs |
| 5:00–5:45 pm | Sita Gufa | 30–45 min |
| 6:00–7:00 pm | Ramkund and evening aarti | 1 hr |
That is about four hours in the car and roughly seven on your feet. Nothing in it needs rushing.
The temple opens at about 6:00 am and stays open until about 9:30 pm, with no weekly closure. From the parking in the Gad village, you choose between two ways up to the shrine:
The funicular trolley — roughly a 3-minute ride. An adult return ticket is reported at around ₹90–110, with lower fares for children and senior citizens.
The stone steps — about 500–510 of them, covered overhead. Allow 25–40 minutes going up at a steady pace.
On a normal weekday the darshan line itself takes around 30 minutes. Our ropeway and VIP darshan guide covers the counters and concessions in detail.
Arriving at 8:00 am also puts you clear of the Mahanaivedya aarti, around 12:00–1:00 pm, when the line slows down. Plan to be walking back to the car by then.
You have two sensible places to eat, and both are simple vegetarian food:
On the Gad — the temple trust runs a prasadalaya for Yatris, and small eateries line the lane to the trolley station. Good if darshan finishes close to noon.
At Vani, about 22 km down the road — the last proper town before Nashik, with several family restaurants serving thali and misal.
Eat before you leave Vani. The stretch from Vani to Dindori is mostly farmland and vineyards, with only scattered dhabas.
The drive down takes about two hours. The road from Dindori enters Nashik through Panchavati itself, so you reach the temples without crossing the city.
All four stops sit within a few hundred metres of each other on the Godavari bank, about 2–2.7 km from Nashik CBS. The lanes are narrow, so the car parks once and you walk a loop of roughly 1 km.
Walk it in this order:
Kapaleshwar Mahadev Mandir — a short flight of steps above Ramkund. It is known as a Shiva temple with no Nandi facing the linga. Allow 20–30 minutes.
Kalaram Mandir — the black-stone Ram temple, open from early morning until late evening. Allow 45 minutes, more if bhajans are on.
Sita Gufa — a two-minute walk from Kalaram. Entry is through a low, narrow passage, one person at a time, so the line moves slowly.
Ramkund — open all hours. Come down to the water as the lamps are lit; the Godavari aarti happens around sunset.
For the stories behind each one, see our Panchavati guide.
The Gad has clear good and bad days, and the choice changes your whole timetable.
Easiest: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Darshan in about 30 minutes, and the plan above holds.
Busier: Tuesday and Friday, the Devi's days, and all weekends. Add an hour on the Gad.
Heaviest: Navratri, Chaitra Utsav and every Purnima. Our Navratri 2026 guide has the day-by-day picture.
In the monsoon, mist and rain slow the ghat and darshan has occasionally been suspended after very heavy rain. From October to February the road and the weather are both at their best.
The same loop bends to fit different groups:
With elders: take the trolley both ways, and let them sit at Kalaram's courtyard while the rest go into Sita Gufa. The cave needs crouching and is hard on knees.
With small children: eat on the Gad at 11:00 am instead of waiting for Vani, and skip the steps.
On a tight schedule: leave at 5:30 am, skip the sit-down lunch, and you can finish Ramkund by 5:00 pm.
Wanting the aarti: stay with the plan as written. Ending at Ramkund in the evening is what makes this order worth it.
What to avoid: starting after 8:00 am. You then reach the Gad at its busiest hour and arrive at Panchavati with daylight running out.
Carry a water bottle, a cap, socks for hot stone floors and some cash for the trolley counter and offerings.

A 6:00 am start is easiest from a room in Nashik city the night before. Stay in or near Panchavati if you want the evening aarti a short walk from your bed, or near CBS and Dwarka for quick access to the Dindori road.
Rooms across the city fill early during Navratri and on long weekends, so book once your date is fixed.
Start early, keep the cave for late afternoon and let the day end beside the Godavari. Jai Saptashrungi Mata, Jai Shri Ram.
