The full Nashik temple loop, covering Saptashrungi Devi, Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga and Panchavati, is about 195 km as a return trip from Nashik, with roughly 6 to 7 hours of actual driving. The longest leg sits in the middle: Saptashrungi to Trimbakeshwar is close to 90 km.
Here is the loop in the order most cars drive it, with Devi darshan first.
| Leg | Distance | Drive time | Road |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nashik → Saptashrungi Gad | about 65 km | about 2 hours | Dindori, Vani, Nanduri ghat |
| Saptashrungi Gad → Trimbakeshwar | about 90–95 km | 2.5–3 hours | Back via Vani and Dindori, then Trimbak road |
| Trimbakeshwar → Panchavati | about 30 km | 50–60 minutes | Trimbak road into the city |
| Between the Panchavati points | under 1 km | on foot | Lanes along the Godavari |
| Panchavati → your stay in Nashik | 2–8 km | 10–25 minutes | City roads |
Together the legs come to about 195 km, starting and ending in Nashik.
The car leaves Nashik northwards on the Dindori road. Three markers tell you how far along you are:
Dindori — the first town, in grape and vineyard country.
Vani — about 39 km from Nashik. It is the last proper town, so take fuel, cash and tea here.
Nanduri — about 52 km from Nashik, the village at the foot of the hill.
Up to Nanduri the road runs across open plateau and moves quickly. A car leaving Nashik at 5:30 am is usually at the foot of the ghat in about 90 minutes. Temple hours and aarti times are in our Saptashrungi darshan guide.
The final stretch is roughly 10 km of ghat road, climbing to a hilltop village that sits at well over 1,200 metres. It has tight hairpin bends and sheer drops on the outer edge, so even a good driver takes 25 to 30 minutes.
What this means for your plan:
Drive it in daylight. Aim to be off the hill well before dusk.
Expect fog on monsoon and winter mornings. The car slows and that is correct.
Prone to motion sickness? Sit in front and keep breakfast light until you are up.
Parking is beside the funicular trolley station, with space for over 150 vehicles. It fills on festival days.
On the map the two hills are only about 65 km apart in a straight line. By road it is 90 to 95 km, because there is no direct highway across the hills between them.
The car comes back down the ghat, returns through Vani and Dindori towards Nashik, and then turns west onto the Trimbak road for the last 28 km or so. Count on 2.5 to 3 hours without a halt.
Two things stretch this leg:
Midday traffic where the route skirts Nashik city.
The descent. Coming down the ghat takes as long as going up.
Bus, shared and private options on the final stretch are compared in Nashik to Trimbakeshwar — how to reach.
This is the easy leg: about 30 km on a wide road, past Anjaneri hill and into the city. It takes 50 to 60 minutes, longer between 5 and 7 pm when office traffic meets you at the city edge.
Panchavati is on the bank of the Godavari, roughly 2 to 2.7 km from Nashik CBS. The car parks once. Ramkund, Kapaleshwar Mahadev Mandir, Kalaram Mandir and Sita Gufa are then covered on foot, with Kalaram and Sita Gufa only two minutes apart.
From there your stay is a short hop, which is why Panchavati works best as the last stop. Our Ramkund guide covers the ghat itself.
The distance is nearly the same in either direction. What changes is where the clock hurts.
Devi first (recommended) — the ghat and the hill in cool morning light, Trimbakeshwar after lunch, Panchavati at dusk.
Trimbakeshwar first — suits Yatris who want the short early-morning queue. The cost is the ghat at midday and a later return.
Panchavati first — avoid it. It spends the cool hours in the city and pushes the ghat late.
If 195 km sounds like too much, the same start has three shorter loops:
| Loop from Nashik | Round trip |
|---|---|
| Saptashrungi only | about 130 km |
| Saptashrungi + Panchavati | about 135 km |
| Saptashrungi + Trimbakeshwar | about 190 km |
| Saptashrungi + Trimbakeshwar + Panchavati | about 195 km |
With elders — the 135 km loop. Panchavati adds only about 5 km and no long queue.
On a tight schedule — the full 195 km, on a weekday only.
In the monsoon — any loop, but leave earlier and let the driver set the pace on the ghat.

Start and end the loop in Nashik city. A room near Panchavati or CBS sits within a few kilometres of both the Dindori road going out and the last stop coming back.
Staying at Trimbakeshwar instead adds about 28 km to the first leg. See where to stay in Nashik for the areas that suit an early start.
Know the legs and the day stops feeling long. Jai Saptashrungi Mata, Har Har Mahadev.
