Saptashrungi, Trimbakeshwar and Panchavati can be done from Nashik in a single day, but it is a long one: about 195 km by road and roughly 14 hours door to door. Leave by 5:30 am, take Devi darshan first, the Jyotirlinga after lunch and Panchavati at dusk, and you are back around 8 pm.
This is the order that works: the hill first while it is cool, the long drive in the middle, and the walking stop last.
| Time | Where | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 5:30 am | Leave Nashik | About 65 km via Dindori and Vani |
| 7:30 am | Saptashrungi Gad | Trolley or steps, then Devi darshan |
| 9:30 am | Breakfast on the Gad | Food stalls beside the trolley station |
| 10:00 am | Drive to Trimbakeshwar | The long leg, 2.5–3 hours |
| 1:00 pm | Lunch at Trimbakeshwar | Eat before you join the queue |
| 1:45 pm | Kushavarta Kund, then the Jyotirlinga | Allow up to 2.5 hours |
| 4:30 pm | Drive to Panchavati | About 30 km, close to an hour |
| 5:30 pm | Panchavati on foot |
These are working times, not promises. Each stop has about half an hour of slack built in. If one stop runs a full hour over, something later has to give, and that is usually Panchavati.
The Devi temple is open from about 6:00 am to 9:30 pm, with no weekly closure. Reaching at 7:30 puts you there around the Panchamrit Mahapuja and well before the day buses from Nashik arrive.
From the parking area you have two ways up to the shrine:
Funicular trolley — about 3 minutes each way. The return ticket is around ₹100 for an adult, with lower rates for seniors and children.
About 510 stone steps — 45 minutes to an hour for an average walker, plus the walk down.
On this plan, take the trolley. The steps cost you an hour you do not have. On an ordinary weekday the darshan line is about half an hour; Tuesdays, Fridays and Purnima are noticeably longer. Our Saptashrungi ropeway and VIP darshan guide has the ticket counters and the queue options in full.
This is the longest sit of the day: close to 90 km and 2.5 to 3 hours. The car comes down the ghat to Nanduri, goes back through Vani and Dindori, and then turns west onto the Trimbak road.
There is no darshan stop on this leg, so use it well:
Eat a proper breakfast on the Gad before you leave. Good food is thin between Vani and the Trimbak road.
Let elders and children sleep. The afternoon needs their legs.
Ask the driver for one tea halt around Dindori, the halfway point.
Trimbakeshwar temple is open from about 5:30 am to 9:00 pm. Start at Kushavarta Kund, a five-minute walk from the temple. Fifteen to twenty minutes is enough to wash your hands and feet; a full snan needs a change of clothes and more time than this day has.
Then join the darshan line. Three things to know before you do:
Phones and cameras are not allowed inside. Leave them in the car with the driver instead of paying for a locker.
Eat first. Once you are in the line you cannot step out for food.
The ₹200 quick-darshan pass was suspended from 13 August to 13 September 2026. Check with the trust on the day; do not build the plan around it.

All four Panchavati points sit within a short walk of each other on the bank of the Godavari. The car parks once and you do the rest on foot, in this order:
Sita Gufa — go here first. It shuts earliest, by about 7 to 8 pm, and the entrance is a low, narrow passage you bend through.
Kalaram Mandir — two minutes from Sita Gufa and open late into the evening.
Kapaleshwar Mahadev Mandir — the Shiva temple with no Nandi, up a flight of steps above the river.
Ramkund — open at all hours. Finish here as the lamps are lit on the ghat.
Give it 90 minutes to two hours. Each site is covered in our Panchavati guide.
This plan is honest about one thing: it is full. About seven hours are spent in the car and the rest on your feet.
Fit adults with only one day in Nashik — this is your plan.
With elders — the trolley removes the steps, but the Trimbakeshwar line is standing time. The Saptashrungi and Panchavati loop, about 135 km, is kinder.
With children under six — fourteen hours is too long. Split it over two days.
On a Monday, a weekend or a public holiday — do not attempt all three. Take Saptashrungi and Trimbakeshwar only, about 190 km.
During Navratri or the Chaitra fair — the Gad alone can take most of a day. Read our Saptashrungi Navratri 2026 guide first.

Sleep in Nashik both the night before and the night after. A 5:30 am start does not work from an overnight train, and you will not want to travel on after an 8 pm finish.
A room near Panchavati or CBS keeps the morning pick-up short and puts the last stop close to your bed. Our guide to where to stay in Nashik compares the areas.
A long day, but three of Nashik's great darshans before you sleep. Jai Saptashrungi Mata, Har Har Mahadev, Jai Shri Ram.
