After Sai Baba darshan, the most rewarding day trip from Shirdi heads north-west to Nashik and Trimbakeshwar — one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the source of the holy Godavari, and the Panchavati region where Lord Ram is believed to have lived in exile. It is comfortably doable in a single long day. Here is how to plan it. 🛕
Distances and travel time from Shirdi
Trimbakeshwar lies about 28 km beyond Nashik, so the smart sequence is to drive to Trimbakeshwar first (the furthest point) and work your way back through Nashik on the return.
How to reach Nashik and Trimbakeshwar from Shirdi
Two realistic options — tap either tile to get a real quote:
What to see in one day
Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga. One of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, built in classic black-stone Hemadpanti architecture and set against the Brahmagiri hills, the source of the Godavari. The lingam here is unusual — three faces representing Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. The queue can be long; the sanctum has an afternoon break, so a morning arrival is best.
Kushavarta Kund. The sacred tank beside the temple, regarded as the origin point of the Godavari.
Kalaram Temple, Panchavati (Nashik). A beautiful 18th-century black-stone temple to Lord Ram, with 14 steps for the 14 years of exile and 84 pillars. Photography is not allowed inside; a large Hanuman statue and a gaushala sit opposite.
Ramkund and Panchavati. The riverside bathing ghat on the Godavari and the wider Panchavati area tied to the Ramayana. Sita Gufaa, Tapovan, and Muktidham (a temple replicating all twelve Jyotirlingas under one roof) are easy add-ons if time allows.
Suggested one-day sequence
- Leave Shirdi early (by 6:30–7:00 AM).
- Drive straight to Trimbakeshwar for a late-morning Jyotirlinga darshan.
- Visit Kushavarta Kund beside the temple.
- Drive back toward Nashik for lunch.
- Kalaram Temple and Ramkund in Panchavati in the afternoon.
- Optional: Muktidham or Sita Gufaa before the drive home.
- Return to Shirdi by evening.
Shirdi to Nashik & Trimbakeshwar taxi fare (2026)
Below are indicative market ranges you’ll hear from local stands for context. Our rates above are all-inclusive and don’t move with the season.

- Kalaram Temple: ~5:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
📝 Tips for a smooth day
- Start early — both darshans plus the driving fill a full day.
- Trimbakeshwar gets very crowded on Mondays and during Shravan; weekday mornings are calmer.
- Carry minimal valuables into the sanctum; phones and bags are restricted at several temples.
- If the day feels rushed, consider an overnight in Nashik instead of returning the same evening.
