Dwarkadhish Temple opens twice a day, 6:30 am to 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm, with four hours of Anosar between and short bhog closures in each session. From Rajkot, 225 km away, your arrival time decides whether you see Shringar Aarti or a shut door. Here is the schedule and the departures that fit.
The morning runs from Mangla Aarti at 6:30 am to the Anosar closure at 1:00 pm. Darshan is not continuous: the doors close for each bhog offered to Dwarkadhish, usually for 10 to 20 minutes.
| Time | What happens | Doors |
|---|---|---|
| 6:30 am | Mangla Aarti | Open |
| 7:00–8:00 am | Mangla darshan | Open |
| 8:00–9:00 am | Abhishek pooja (snan vidhi) | Closed |
| 9:00–10:30 am | Shringar darshan, two short bhog breaks | Mostly open |
| 10:30–10:45 am | Shringar Aarti | Open |
| 11:05–11:20 am | Gwal bhog | Closed |
| 11:20 am–12:00 | Darshan | Open |
| 12:00–12:20 pm | Rajbhog | Closed |
Mangla Aarti at 6:30 am and Shringar Aarti at 10:30 am are the two morning moments Yatris travel for. Do not arrive in the 8 to 9 am abhishek hour; you wait outside with a growing crowd.
The evening session is shorter and busier, because day-trippers from Somnath and Rajkot all arrive for it. This is the sequence the temple publishes.
| Time | What happens | Doors |
|---|---|---|
| 5:00 pm | Uthappan darshan, first after Anosar | Open |
| 5:30–5:45 pm | Uthappan bhog | Closed |
| 5:45–7:15 pm | Darshan | Open |
| 7:15–7:30 pm | Sandhya bhog | Closed |
| 7:30–7:45 pm | Sandhya Aarti | Open |
| 8:00–8:10 pm | Shayan bhog | Closed |
| 8:10–8:30 pm | Darshan | Open |
| 8:30–8:35 pm | Shayan Aarti | Open |
Be inside by 7:00 pm for Sandhya Aarti; the line builds from 6:30 pm. Shayan Aarti lasts barely five minutes, and the 9:20 pm last-darshan window is the quietest of the day. A few sites list Sandhya Aarti at 6:30 or 7:00 pm, but 7:30 pm is the temple's figure.
The flag on the shikhar is 52 yards of cloth, changed five times a day: three times in the morning session and twice in the evening. Only Aboti Brahmins, the temple's hereditary servants, climb the spire to change it.
A family can sponsor a dhwaja through the Shree Dwarkadhish Devasthan Samiti. The seva is booked at the temple office, and the waiting list runs from a few months to over a year, with morning flags booked furthest ahead.
Fees are set by the Samiti and were not published online when we checked, so ask at the seva counter rather than trust a tour-site figure. If you are not sponsoring one, ask the gate staff for the next change and watch from the courtyard.
By road it is about 225 km via Jamnagar and Khambhalia on NH 947, and a taxi takes 4.5 to 5.5 hours with one tea stop. Our Rajkot to Dwarka route guide covers the road itself.

Train times are from aggregator timetables; confirm on IRCTC the day before. Most Rajkot families leave by taxi before dawn, take Shringar Aarti, and spend Anosar at Nageshwar and Bet Dwarka, planned in our Nageshwar and Bet Dwarka timings guide.
Phones and cameras: banned inside. In September 2026 Dwarka police registered a case against a man who filmed inside and posted the video.
Lockers: at the Swarga Dwar and Moksha Dwar gates, around ₹20–40 per locker; the shoe stand is separate.
Dress: traditional wear. Shorts, sleeveless tops and short dresses are turned away; leather belts and wallets stay in the locker.
Tickets: there is no paid, VIP or online darshan at Dwarkadhish. Darshan is free; anyone offering a VIP pass outside is a tout.
Sudama Setu: the Gomti footbridge behind the temple is open about 6 am to 7 pm, so cross it in the morning, not after Sandhya Aarti.
With elderly parents: the 5:00 pm Uthappan darshan, when the queue is shortest. Our elderly parents guide has the step and wheelchair notes.
For the aarti feeling: Shringar Aarti at 10:30 am, which sits in the longest open stretch of the morning.
On a tight schedule: arrive by 8:30 pm for Shayan Aarti and the quiet 9:20 pm last darshan, then sleep in Dwarka.
Avoid: arriving between 12:00 and 1:00 pm. You get one 40-minute window, then four hours of waiting.
Sleep in Dwarka if you want Shayan Aarti and the next morning's Mangla Aarti both. The dharamshalas between the temple and Gomti Ghat are a five-minute walk from the gate at 6 am. Yatris continuing to Somnath leave after Shringar Aarti; our 3-day Dwarka, Nageshwar and Somnath plan sets out the nights.
Arrive before the doors close and Dwarkadhish gives you the whole day, from the first conch of Mangla to the last darshan at 9:20. Jai Dwarkadhish.
