If your train ticket says Nagarsol and you're headed to Shirdi for Sai Baba's darshan, the whole question is the last 40–50 km. This guide lays out every option honestly — the real distance, realistic travel times, the fares to expect, and which choice makes sense for which kind of traveller.
Nagarsol railway station (station code NSL) is roughly 40 to 50 km from Shirdi by road, and the drive takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Different sites quote different numbers — some say 40 km, some 44 km, the Saibaba Sansthan lists it as ~50 km. Honest range: 40–50 km, plan for around an hour and a bit.
Nagarsol is a small station, and it is not in Shirdi town — you'll need road transport for the final leg.
Taxi / private cab — most comfortable, direct to your hotel, about 1 hour.
MSRTC bus — cheap but infrequent at a small station like Nagarsol.
Shared taxi / jeep — per-person, waits till full, sensible middle option.
Train onward — a slow once-daily passenger train; usually not worth it.
Budget travel → shared jeep or MSRTC bus if one's lined up.
Family, elderly, or lots of luggage → private taxi. Direct to your hotel, no waiting.
Late-night or early-morning arrival → private taxi is usually the only reliable option.
This matters — many trains reach Nagarsol between roughly 4 AM and 6 AM. At those hours, free Sansthan and MSRTC buses may be sparse, shared jeeps thin out, and Nagarsol has limited waiting facilities. Arrange onward transport in advance for an early arrival, or be prepared for a private cab.
Land at Nagarsol, then do the full temple circuit in one trip: Sai darshan at Shirdi + Trimbakeshwar + Grishneshwar + Bhimashankar, and drop back at Nagarsol in time for your return train. Sedan / Ertiga / Innova, verified driver, one fixed fare — no hidden charges. 2-day and 3-day itineraries available; send us your train times, we plan the schedule. Call +91 8329667898
Small, basic station — limited platforms, a couple of food stalls, modest waiting facilities. Fine for a quick transit, not a place with lounges. Keep water and snacks handy, especially for early-morning arrivals.
Sainagar Shirdi (SNSI) — the dedicated Shirdi terminus, only a few km from the temple. If your train goes here, by far the best.
Kopargaon (KPG) — about 15–25 km. Easy short hop.
Nagarsol (NSL) — about 40–50 km. This guide.
Manmad Junction (MMR) — about 60 km. Major junction where many trains stop.
When booking tickets, check first whether your route has a train to Sainagar Shirdi or Kopargaon. Use Nagarsol (or Manmad) when that's what your specific train offers.
Note your train's exact arrival time and check whether a free Sansthan bus is scheduled around it — a short enquiry can save you money.
Carry small cash. Shared jeeps and small-station taxis prefer it, and card/UPI isn't always smooth here.
If returning by train, remember the Sansthan runs a computerised railway ticket booking centre inside the temple premises, and free buses back to the station.
Don't over-plan the last mile — thousands of pilgrims cover this 40–50 km every week.
The single best thing you can do for your yatra is stay within walking distance of the Samadhi Mandir. Cutting out the cab ride each way saves hours over multiple aartis. On TripSaffron you'll find verified hotels in Shirdi with real photos, real distances from the temple, and no hidden charges.
If your train terminates at Kopargaon instead, see our Kopargaon → Shirdi short-hop guide. If it's Manmad Junction, read the Manmad → Shirdi practical guide. Coming from Mumbai by train? See Mumbai to Shirdi (flight, train, road).
Nagarsol to Shirdi is a straightforward 40–50 km last leg — free Sansthan bus if one lines up with your train, MSRTC bus or shared jeep on a budget, or a private taxi for comfort and speed.
