Shirdi to Trimbakeshwar is about 120 km via Sinnar and Nashik, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by road. The Simhastha Kumbh flag goes up at Kushavarta Tirtha on Saturday 31 October 2026 at 12:02 pm, the same minute as Ramkund. Leave after Kakad aarti, park at the edge of Trimbak, and be back for Shej aarti.
The Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha opens with a dhwajarohan, the hoisting of the dharma dhwaj, at both of its bathing sites. The district administration has fixed the muhurat at 12:02 pm on Saturday 31 October 2026, with Ramkund in Nashik and Kushavarta in Trimbakeshwar hoisting together.
At Trimbakeshwar the flag is expected to be raised by the Sringeri Shankaracharya, Swami Vidhushekhara Bharati. The President has been invited to the Nashik side. It is a ceremony, not a bathing day, so the crowd is heavy but nothing like an Amrit Snan morning.
What the flag means and the full snan calendar are on our Nashik Simhastha Kumbh 2027 post. The kund's ritual and history are in the Kushavarta Kund guide. This page sticks to getting you there and back from Shirdi.
Kakad aarti at the Samadhi Mandir is 5:15 am and runs 20 to 30 minutes, per the Sansthan's current daily programme. Older guides still print 4:30 am; our Shirdi aarti timings post explains the change. You can attend it and still reach the muhurat with hours to spare.
5:15 am — Kakad aarti. Out of the mandir by about 5:45.
6:00–6:30 am — Leave Shirdi. Breakfast at Sinnar, or carry it.
9:00–9:30 am — Reach the Trimbak parking plots and start walking.
11:00 am — Be inside the Kushavarta area, where the police direct you.
12:02 pm — Dhwajarohan.
1:00–3:30 pm — Lunch, then the darshan line if it is open (see below).
5:00 pm — Leave Trimbak at the latest for a relaxed return.
8:00–8:30 pm — Back in Shirdi. Shej aarti is at 10:00 pm.
If you skip Kakad aarti, do not leave later anyway. Vehicle cordons around a venue like this go up hours before the muhurat, and arriving at 11 am means parking far out and a long, hot walk.
Every taxi uses the same corridor: the Shirdi–Sinnar road, the Nashik–Pune highway into Nashik, then the Trimbak road west. Operators quote 116 to 123 km and 2.5 to 3 hours in normal traffic.
| Leg | Distance | Normal time |
|---|---|---|
| Shirdi → Nashik (via Sinnar) | about 88–90 km | 2–2.5 h |
| Nashik → Trimbakeshwar | about 28–30 km | 45 min–1 h |
| Shirdi → Trimbakeshwar | about 116–123 km | 2.5–3 h |
| Add on 31 October | — | 30–60 min for check posts |
Two things to tell the driver. Skip central Nashik and Panchavati, which have their own Ramkund cordon at the same hour; use the bypass to the Trimbak road. And expect the queue to build on the Trimbak road itself, so the earlier you are on it the better.
As of early October no official parking map for 31 October has been published. The Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority has said parking near the venues, marked pedestrian routes from the plots to the venue, and traffic regulation will be in place, worked out with the police and the Trimbakeshwar administration.
The wider Kumbh plan, proposed in June 2026, lists 26 parking locations around Trimbakeshwar across about 671 hectares. Its inner tier is reachable only by MSRTC shuttle on Amrit Snan days. Expect a lighter version on 31 October: private cars stopped at the edge of town, then a walk.
Have the driver drop you at the cordon, then park where the police point. Agree a pickup spot on the main road, not at the kund.
Carry water and a cap. The walk from the plots to Kushavarta could be a kilometre or two.
Keep the car key question simple: one driver, one phone, one meeting point.
With elders, ask at the cordon whether rickshaws are allowed to the next barricade.
Nashik police had not issued a 31 October diversion notice when this was written. In September the Kumbh Mela Authority asked neighbouring districts, including the Shirdi side, for approach-route maps and vehicle-holding areas. So expect check posts on the Sinnar–Nashik approach rather than a free run.
The temple normally keeps 5:30 am to 9 pm darshan with Shej aarti at 9 pm; the Trimbakeshwar darshan guide covers gates and poojas. We could not confirm whether general darshan is restricted during the ceremony. Plan darshan for the afternoon, after the dignitaries leave, and treat the morning as the flag only.
Watch for Nashik Rural Police traffic notices and the Kumbh Authority's announcements in the last week of October. Your driver will usually know the day's cordon by the morning; ask him before you leave Shirdi.
With elderly parents: taxi, leave by 6 am, drop at the cordon, afternoon darshan, leave by 4 pm. Avoid standing at the kund through the midday crush.
On a budget: MSRTC from Shirdi to Nashik, then a Nashik CBS to Trimbak bus, normally every 15–30 minutes at about ₹45–52. Start before 6 am; Kumbh-day buses may stop at the outer plots.
On a tight schedule: taxi both ways, flag at 12:02, leave by 2 pm, back in Shirdi by 5. Skip darshan and come again on a normal weekday.
Want both ceremonies: you cannot; they share the minute. Pick Trimbak for the shorter walk, or read our Ramkund plan from Shirdi.
Avoid: a Trimbak room just for the night of the 30th unless it is already booked. Shirdi's beds are the reason this works as a day trip.
Shirdi airport (SAG) at Kakadi is about 14 km from the mandir. In 2026 IndiGo is the main operator, with Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai on its board, after SpiceJet withdrew. A cab to town runs roughly ₹450–650. Fly in on the 30th; a same-morning arrival leaves no margin for the cordon.
| Start point | To Shirdi | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Shirdi airport (SAG) | about 14 km | Taxi or MSRTC to town |
| Kopargaon (KPG) | about 15 km | Manmad–Daund line |
| Sainagar Shirdi (SNSI) | in town | Few trains, fixed times |
| Manmad Jn (MMR) | about 58–60 km, 80 min | Roughly two dozen daily trains to Nashik Road |
From Manmad, a taxi can run Manmad → Nashik → Trimbak directly and skip Shirdi altogether; the distance is roughly comparable. From Kopargaon or the airport it is simpler to sleep in Shirdi on the 30th and start the plan above at 6 am.

Stay in Shirdi both nights. The Sansthan's bhaktniwas and the private hotels around the mandir keep everyday rates, while Nashik and Trimbak rooms are already priced for the Kumbh. You attend Kakad aarti on the 31st and Shej aarti the same night without moving luggage.
If you would rather wake up in Trimbak on the 31st, book now and expect the kund-side lanes to be barricaded from early morning. Either way, keep the car with you; a room without a parked driver on a cordon day is a long walk to the bus stand.
Leave after Kakad aarti, walk the last stretch, and be home for Shej. Om Sai Ram, Har Har Mahadev.
