The best time for the 4-day Shirdi 3 Jyotirlinga loop is October to February, starting on a Wednesday so Ellora is open on Day 1 and Trimbakeshwar falls on a weekday.
Keep well clear of Mahashivratri (6 March 2027) and August–September 2027, when Shravan and the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh land on exactly the days this route spends at Panchavati and Trimbakeshwar.
Below: the next twelve months, October 2026 to September 2027, and which weekday to leave Shirdi.
The loop runs in a fixed order: Day 1 Shani Shingnapur, Grishneshwar and Ellora; Day 2 Panchavati in Nashik and the drive to Trimbak; Day 3 dawn darshan at Trimbakeshwar, then south to Bhimashankar; Day 4 back to Shirdi by midday. So your start day decides which weekday each temple gets.
Trimbakeshwar is the busiest of the three. Weekday waits run about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, while weekends and Mondays stretch to 2–4 hours. The whole plan is to make Day 3 a weekday that is not a Monday.
| Start day | Day 1 Ellora | Day 3 Trimbakeshwar | Day 4 Bhimashankar | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | Open | Wednesday | Thursday | Good |
| Tuesday | Closed | Thursday | Friday | Avoid |
| Wednesday | Open | Friday | Saturday | Best |
| Thursday | Open | Saturday | Sunday | Weekend crowds |
| Friday | Open | Sunday | Monday | Avoid |
A Saturday start has a second problem: Saturday is Shani Shingnapur's heaviest day, and it is your first stop at around 7:30 AM.
Festival dates move each year; these are for this twelve-month window. Treat crowd notes as patterns, not guarantees.
| Month | Weather & road | Crowd | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 2026 | Post-monsoon green, ghat clearing | Dussehra weekend busy in Shirdi | Good |
| Nov 2026 | Cool, clear | Diwali 8 Nov, Kartik Purnima 24 Nov | Good, avoid those weeks |
| Dec 2026 | Cold mornings at Trimbak & Bhimashankar | Christmas–New Year rush | Best, avoid last week |
| Jan 2027 | Coldest, driest | Moderate | Best |
| Feb 2027 | Pleasant | Rising towards Shivratri | Very good |
| Mar 2027 | Warming | Mahashivratri 6 Mar |
For how the season plays out in Shirdi itself, our best time to visit Shirdi guide goes into the aarti calendar and weather in more detail.
Mahashivratri, 6 March 2027. All three temples on this route are Jyotirlingas, so all three are at their heaviest on the same day. Overnight queues are normal; keep the week of 3–8 March off your calendar.
Shravan, about 3–31 August 2027. Every Shravan Monday (Shravan Somvar) brings a surge at all three temples. Weekday Shravan is busy but workable.
Simhastha Kumbh, August–September 2027. Nashik and Trimbakeshwar host the Kumbh once every twelve years. The Shahi Snan dates widely reported are around 2 August, 31 August and 11 September 2027, but they have not been officially notified yet.
October to February is the easy season. Roads are dry, the Day 3 drive via Sinnar, Sangamner and Manchar holds to its roughly 5.5 hours, and the dawn queue at Trimbakeshwar moves fast. Carry a shawl: Trimbak and Bhimashankar are cold before sunrise in December and January.
June to September slows the last stretch into Bhimashankar. It is a narrow forest ghat, and fog and rain can add an hour or more. That is exactly why this route reaches Bhimashankar by mid-afternoon rather than after dark.
The reward is the forest: Bhimashankar sits inside a wildlife sanctuary, greenest in July, with waterfalls along the road. The Gupt Bhimashankar walk gets slippery, so wear shoes with grip.
April and May are hot around Verul and Nashik, and the 2:30 PM Ellora visit has little shade. Carry water and a cap.
With elders: December to February, Wednesday start. Cool weather helps with the long steps down and back up at Bhimashankar, which sits below the parking. Our Bhimashankar darshan timings guide covers the queue and hours.
First-timers who want easy queues: January, mid-week, away from Makar Sankranti weekend.
Monsoon and forest lovers: July 2027, weekdays only. Expect slow ghats and wet steps, and finish before Shravan begins in August.
On a tight schedule: the merged 3-day version works best in winter, when the long final day of about 8.5 hours of driving is on dry roads.
What to avoid: a Tuesday start, the week of Mahashivratri, and anything from late July to mid-September 2027.
Trimbakeshwar opens around 5–5:30 AM, and the dawn queue is a fraction of the mid-morning one. That is why Day 3 starts at 6 AM. Our Trimbakeshwar best time of day guide explains the pattern hour by hour.
Bhimashankar reopened in mid-2026 after renovation, and its darshan hours have been unsettled since, with a temporary morning-only window at times. Confirm your slot and the current hours when you register online with the temple trust, before you fix your start day.

The stay is not included in the package, so book the three nights yourself: Verul or Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Night 1, Trimbakeshwar on Night 2 and Bhimashankar on Night 3.
Book Bhimashankar first. It has the fewest and most basic rooms of the three towns, and they go early on weekends and through Shravan. In a Kumbh month, Trimbakeshwar rooms will be the hardest to find anywhere on this route.
Pick a cool month, leave Shirdi on a Wednesday, and let the dawn queues work in your favour. Om Sai Ram · Har Har Mahadev.
