Sleep at Verul (or Khuldabad) on night one, inside Trimbak town on night two, and at Bhimashankar itself on night three. Book them in reverse order — Bhimashankar first, Trimbak second, Verul last — because that is the order in which rooms run out.
The loop runs Pune → Shani Shingnapur → Grishneshwar and Ellora → Shirdi → Nashik → Trimbakeshwar → Bhimashankar → Pune. Each night is placed so the next morning starts right where the day's first darshan is.
| Night | Where | Why there | Book how far ahead | Walk to temple |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Verul / Khuldabad (or Sambhajinagar) | Ellora ends late; Day 2 leaves at 6 am for Shirdi | 1–2 weeks; more on long weekends | A few minutes from Verul stays; a drive from the city |
| 2 | Trimbak town | 6 am darshan and Kushavarta before breakfast | 2–3 weeks; earlier in Shravan and Kumbh months | Short walk from central lodges |
| 3 | Bhimashankar village | Afternoon darshan, evening aarti, 6 am Day 4 | 3–4 weeks for weekends; book this one first | Walk to the top of the steps, then down |
The golden rule: the closer your bed is to the temple, the more the fixed 6 am starts feel easy rather than punishing. Elders especially notice the difference.
You finish Ellora around 5:30 pm. Staying in Verul village means you are in your room within minutes, and the 6 am start for Shirdi is painless.
Stays around Verul fall into three groups:
MTDC Rashtrakut resort — a government-run property that opened in 2024 beside the Ellora Caves parking, a few minutes from Grishneshwar.
Bhakta niwas and ashram rooms — several run by religious trusts sit roughly 500–650 m from the temple. Some take families only.
Khuldabad hotels — a few minutes up the road, with more mid-range choice.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is about 30 km away. It gives you city hotels, more restaurants and easier last-minute rooms, but adds evening drive time. For a deeper city-versus-village comparison, see our guide on where to stay in Sambhajinagar.
Our advice: pick Verul unless you need a specific hotel standard. The driver's night-halt is covered either way, but tell us your choice before the trip so the timings still work.
On Day 2 you leave Panchavati after the evening aarti and reach Trimbak around 7:15 pm. That late arrival shapes the whole booking.
Tell the property you will check in after 7 pm, and reconfirm on the day. Small lodges sometimes release rooms by evening.
Trust rooms (Bhaktniwas) are run by the Shri Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust near the bus stand and booked online on its official site. Reports say cancellations are not accepted, so book only once dates are firm. Our Trimbakeshwar Bhaktniwas booking guide walks through it.
Private lodges cluster in the lanes around the temple and Kushavarta, many a five-minute walk away.
Why not Nashik, about 28 km away? A Nashik hotel means a pre-dawn drive and losing the short-queue window. Trimbakeshwar is the busiest of the three temples, and the 6 am slot is the one thing that beats its queue.
One more flag: the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha formally begins on 31 October 2026. Its main bathing days fall in August and September 2027, when Trimbak rooms will be very scarce.
You reach Bhimashankar mid-afternoon on Day 3. Stay on the hill, and you get an unhurried darshan, the evening aarti around 7:30 pm, and a quiet 6 am the next day.
Rooms here are the tightest on the loop. There is no large trust-run complex like at Shirdi, so don't count on walk-in trust rooms — see how to book a stay at Bhimashankar. Options are:
Lodges and guesthouses near the bus stand and parking — simple, closest to the steps.
Jungle resorts and homestays a few km out — calmer, but you need the car for every temple visit.
MTDC Yatri Niwas at Rajpur, listed at roughly 9.5 km before the temple on the Pune side.
If the hill is full, stay lower. Ghodegaon is about 44 km away, and Manchar farther still. That means driving the forest ghat after dark on Day 3, or starting very early on Day 4.
On a budget: trust rooms at Trimbak, bhakta niwas rooms at Verul, and a simple lodge by the Bhimashankar bus stand. Book early; cheap rooms go first.
Families with elders: stay closest to each temple, ideally ground-floor rooms. At Bhimashankar the long flight of steps is below the parking, so a room near the top saves energy.
Comfort-first: MTDC Rashtrakut or a Khuldabad resort on Night 1, a better private hotel in Trimbak, and a resort near Bhimashankar with the car for temple runs.
Last-minute bookers: Sambhajinagar on Night 1 and Ghodegaon on Night 3 are your safety nets. Avoid last-minute on Shravan weekends and Kumbh dates entirely.
What to avoid: a Nashik hotel on Night 2 and a Pune-side hotel on Night 3. Both undo the reason this loop has overnight stops.
Verul and Trimbak are busy temple towns with steady power and plenty of vegetarian thalis. Bhimashankar is different. It sits in a forest sanctuary, so plan for a simpler night.
Hot water at small lodges may run only at set morning hours. Ask when, so you can bathe before the 6 am darshan.
Power cuts can happen, especially in monsoon. Carry a torch and a charged power bank.
Food is simple vegetarian fare, and most eateries close early. Eat soon after the evening aarti.
It gets cold in winter and damp in monsoon. Pack a shawl and a spare set of clothes.
Work through this before you confirm your taxi dates:
Register Bhimashankar darshan on shreebhimashankar.com for a Day 3 afternoon or evening slot.
Book the Bhimashankar room, then the Trimbak room, then Verul.
Never start the loop on a Monday, or Day 1 lands on Tuesday, when Ellora is closed.
Share each property name with us so the driver knows where to drop you each evening.
Three good nights make the three Jyotirlingas feel like a yatra, not a race. Book the hill first, sleep close to each temple, and let the road take care of itself — Har Har Mahadev.
