After Sai Baba's darshan at Shirdi, many Yatris add a visit to Saptashrungi Devi, the Shakti Peeth set among seven peaks near Vani. It's an easy add-on — about 110–130 km, roughly 3 hours by road — and comfortable as a day trip. Here's the distance, every travel option with fares, and a simple same-day plan.
At a glance
Distance: ~110–130 km (about 3 hours by road, via Lasalgaon or Nashik).
Easiest: a direct taxi — ideal for a same-day round trip.
The catch: no direct train or bus to Saptashrungi — go via Nashik, then up the Gad.
At the shrine: a ropeway (₹90 round trip) or ~510 steps to the temple.
Shirdi and Saptashrungi make a beautiful two-in-one pilgrimage — Sai Baba and the Devi in a single trip. Saptashrungi Nivasini Devi is worshipped as an eighteen-armed form of the Goddess (Mahishasura Mardini). The shrine is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas of India and among Maharashtra's 3.5 Shakti Peethas. These hills also carry a Ramayana connection — Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana are believed to have come here to seek the Goddess's blessings. For the full shrine picture — timings, ropeway, festivals — see our Saptashrungi Devi darshan guide.
The road distance from Shirdi to Saptashrungi is about 110–130 km, roughly 3 hours depending on traffic. Two routes are common:
Via Lasalgaon (the direct route): Shirdi → Kopargaon/Yeola → Lasalgaon → Vani. Scenic and straightforward.
Via Nashik: slightly longer, but useful if you're stopping in Nashik or combining with Trimbakeshwar. See our companion guide: Shirdi to Nashik & Trimbakeshwar.
The final climb up to the temple is steep and winding, so an experienced driver — or the ropeway from the base — is a real plus.
From the plateau near Vani, the temple is reached either by the funicular ropeway (about ₹90 round trip, 2–3 minutes) or the traditional ~510 rock-cut steps (about an hour's climb). The ropeway is the easy choice for most, especially elders. Watch your belongings — the hillside has plenty of monkeys who grab bottles and food.
The temple is generally open 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM; the ropeway runs until about 9:30 PM. Extended hours during Navratri. Simple thali meals available at canteens near the base. Dress modestly (as at any temple). During Navratri and Purnima, the temple often offers free meals to Yatris; on regular days a small prasad contribution (~₹15) lets you avail it.
October to March — pleasant weather, ideal for the ropeway or the climb.
Navratri (Chaitra + Ashwin) — biggest crowds, grandest atmosphere. Plan and book well ahead.
Monsoon (June–September) — dramatic and beautiful, but steps and paths get slippery.

Shirdi and Saptashrungi fit neatly into one day:
Early morning: Sai Baba darshan at Shirdi (or the day before).
Set off by mid-morning — reach Saptashrungi in about 3 hours.
Midday–afternoon: ropeway up, Devi darshan, prasad.
Evening: return to Shirdi by 8–9 PM.
Start early, especially on weekends and during Navratri, when both places are crowded. If you have two nights, you can also add Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga on the way back — see our Shirdi to Trimbakeshwar & Nashik guide.
Most Yatris base themselves in Shirdi and make Saptashrungi a day trip. It's the practical hub — closer to Sai Baba darshan, and every taxi/bus route starts here. Verified stays in Shirdi:
